Our History

Founded in 1985, Bodegas Nodus is the result of one family’s commitment to excellence in the art of winemaking while working in harmony with our natural environment. At the Finca El Renegado, the legacy of the land and the vision of the future are intertwined with each vine and cluster. We cultivate our vines in a privileged setting, combining tradition and innovation to offer you wines that tell of the rich history and meticulous work of our generations.

Bodegas y Viñedos de Utiel

In 1985, Adolfo de las Heras Marín, driven by his passion for winemaking, founded Bodegas y Viñedos de Utiel after acquiring one of the most ecologically and oenologically valuable estates in the Valencian Community. El Renegado has 540 hectares between the vineyard and the forest, more than 80% of which includes native Bobal grape vineyards with plants that are over 40 years old. Don Adolfo was one of the pioneers in introducing other varieties, such as Merlot and Cabernet, in this area. He was also one of the first to produce quality bottled wine. During the first few years, the company marketed young wines, discovering new blends and preparation methods. It was his son, Adolfo de las Heras Polo, who took over the bodega at the end of the 1990s and revolutionised it.

New varieties

Adolfo de las Heras Polo imported the rest of the varieties that the winery now offers, such as Syrah, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, etc. After that, he began operations on barrel building, the bottling line, and the transformation of the old farmhouse into a beautiful hotel. From the end of the 1990s until 2020, Adolfo de las Heras, driven by his meticulousness and expertise, adapted the estate and the winery to the needs of his new project: the production of quality wines. In 2005, as a result of the whole team’s effort and dedicated work, their first wine high-quality wine came to life. It was then that they began to age their wines longer in barrels with different types of French oak, which lent their wines greater complexity, nobility, and distinction.

One family’s dream

Nodus, the company’s flagship wine, was born. Although we have a wide range of products today, the beginning of our success is due to the Nodus Tinto de Autor (Signature Red) and Nodus Chardonnay. Standing out in this range is the Crianza, or aged wine, in French oak barrels, while the number of bottles produced for each of its products is carefully selected. Nodus currently has one of the most complete ranges on the market. This standing is endorsed by its positioning in the best wine menus and specialised shops.

El Renegado

It lies in a unique environment with a highly valuable ecosystem. Surrounded by pine forests, the estate is home to eight monumental holm oak trees. The influence of this environment affects the vineyard and the grapes, which ripen smaller and with a greater concentration of fruit and flavour than usual. This sets us apart and makes our wines unique.

Ocho encinas

The ocho encinas, or eight holm oaks, that occupy the Finca El Renegado are natural emblems that the Valencian Regional Government recognises as unique monumental trees. These centuries-old holm oaks, including La Señorita, stand as silent sentinels of our rich biodiversity. Their stately presence is a constant reminder of our commitment to protecting and caring for a natural legacy that defines and distinguishes us.

The Winery

Bodegas Nodus is the result of a vision that combines traditional techniques with the most advanced winemaking technology. The winery was revolutionised by Adolfo de las Heras Polo in the late 1990s, incorporating new varieties and production methods. The Sala de Barricas, or barrel room, and the modern bottling line are the nucleus where our renowned wines are crafted, and the old farmhouse, transformed into the Entreviñas Hotel, adds a unique charm to our visitors’ experience.

Facilities

In our facilities, every detail has been meticulously taken care of, from the Sala de Barricas to the old farmhouse, which has been transformed into the Entreviñas Hotel. Here, every element has been designed with wine tourism excellence in mind, offering our visitors a complete and unforgettable experience. Whether for a tasting or a meal at El Mirador, the lookout room, the vineyards will always be the backdrop, framing every moment with the omnipresent beauty of El Renegado.

Nodus: the flagship

Nodus is not only our brand; it is the essence of our identity, the result of a meticulous winemaking process that begins in the vineyard and culminates in the glass. With wines like Nodus de Autor and Nodus Bobal, we pay homage to the native grape variety and to excellence. The Nodus range, endorsed by both national and international awards, is the fruit of our uncompromising focus on quality and the desire to share the spirit of the Valencian Community with the world through the senses.
